Reise in eine Strahlende Zukumft or “Journey into a Bright Future” is a gripping mafia novel that couldn't be closer to reality. There has been no sign of life from newspaper reporter David McGhee for six weeks after he went to investigate illegal chemical dumping. The ongoing uncertainty about his whereabouts is taking its toll on his girlfriend Susan Galloways.

In the middle of the night, Susan receives a call from David, confirming he is still alive. The connection is bad, but the incoherent scraps of words only allow one conclusion: David is on the trail of a huge scandal.

Then Susan hears shots, the line goes dead. Together with her young daughter and the help of a photojournalist Steven, Susan sets out to search for David and finds herself traveling around the world following the trail.

They finally track down David in the desert in Australia where he has been left for dead. When the time comes for David and Susan to uncover the crimes committed, all the evidence has gone missing.
