On his honeymoon through the southwestern United States, a young man is kidnapped for no apparent reason. His wife, a German student, escapes the attack only by chance.
A truck driver who transports meat - frozen side of beef- across the continent, from Texas to New York, picks her up and takes her in.
On this long journey, a relationship develops between the two that is a brittle as it is deep. The truck driver selflessly stands up for the girl, a stranger to him, and for her husband. He tries to solve the mystery of this crime. Although they can barely speak to each other, they stand up for each other and voluntarily enter the trap again to follow the trail of the kidnapped man.
They fall into a nightmare of threats and murder. Without knowing it, they are tangling with a widespread syndicate that has infiltrated the country’s healthcare system and unscrupulously trades in kidnapped people - the trade in live flesh to secure supplies to organ banks for wealthy clients……
